I first became aware of FSL after they contacted about me a few months ago, about the possibility of purchasing a new build apartment from a development in Stockport/ Manchester. I had previously registered my details with a number of Developers, including FSL in 2007, when I had first considered investing in property but had not taken any further steps toward this.

 

The telephone call from FSL came at the right time; I had a few savings and had been seriously thinking of buying but just had not had any time to do so, as I have a very hectic schedule.

 

My budget was very limited but I was able to negotiate a suitable price and various other reductions with the FSL agents, Sarah Whittaker and Steve Massam. Despite both of them working under pressure, I found them to be very accommodating and flexible.

 

My purchase is yet to be completed but the  best way to describe my experience so far, is that, whilst I appreciate that my agents are in business;  I feel I have a genuine team of “ cheerleaders” who are wholly supportive  and fully  committed to seeing my purchase go through, just as I am. It’s a totally ‘win- win’ affair and I am very much looking forward to a continuing business relationship with FSL!! Thank you so much.

I applied for accommodation through Manchester Met and got rejected and got sent to a website where I found Montgomery House. The building is really good, it’s a really relaxed atmosphere and everyone gets on well.

I would recommend this more than the Uni accommodation because it’s more reasonably priced and I wouldn’t want to live too far in to the centre of the city. Also, it’s a lot better atmosphere, it’s a lot more relaxed.

I’d recommend FreshStart, it’s all really good. The managements good and so is Nathan, the care taker.

I looked on Manchester Student Homes and found Montgomery House. I saw the price and everything, looked at the pictures and all the specs about it and thought ‘Yeah, let’s go for it.’

I would recommend it here, I think it’s a nice place, especially for £75 a week. I think a lot of places would charge a lot more than that but probably wouldn’t provide much more than is here. The atmosphere is very relaxed and sociable, you can just walk around and everyone is like ‘Hello’ and ‘How are you doing?’

From the moment I spoke on the telephone to Stephanie Sowerby from Fresh Start Living I knew Montgomery house was going to be the Halls for Rebecca. Stephanie answered all my queries in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. She understood my concerns and soon put them to rest.  It became clear Fresh Start Living employ a best practice approach to their clients.  It’s the little things such as emails answered quickly and telephone calls followed up that makes the process a positive experience.

Rebecca and I went along to Fresh Start Living’s open day with some trepidation. We don’t know the areas of Manchester well and were concerned what district the house was in. We need not have worried  Montgomery House is a gem, placed at the end of a leafy avenue surrounded by an oasis of gardens and parks, yet a very short stroll to 2 main bus routes.

Montgomery House is stunning. Inside its light and airy with its stone staircases and tall windows that let the light flood in. The common rooms are large and again surrounded on one side by walls of windows. The floor is the original parquet, all of this just adds to the congenial ambience of the house. The students rooms are well laid out, the queen size bed a pleasant surprise. The new communal kitchens are amble big enough. The shared bathrooms with several showers and toilets mean the queues will be manageable! It was reassuring to learn of the security measures that are in place. There is even a minibus to take them to and from student nights out. Whilst there we met Nathan - the youngest caretaker I have ever met!  I am sure the students will feel more at ease with someone nearer to their own age.

The price for the rooms seemed fair and the incentives a bonus, we had no hesitation in signing up with Fresh Start Living. Rebecca can’t wait to move in and begin her days as a student. As a parent it’s reassuring to know she is staying in a Halls that are run by a friendly professional staff who care about their clients.

The Salesman Wayne was polite and courteous even after I kept ringing him on the phone and emailing him on a regular basis, trying to get the best deal in terms of number of properties for the best price. At no point was I encouraged to purchase anything I didn’t want to. This gave me confidence in the company and I decided to make my first property investment with Fresh Start.

For almost 5 years, I have been glued to the Rightmove website looking for affordable properties to invest in to supplement the small pension I will receive when I retire in a few years time. Then recently I spotted something about refurbished student halls building, with rooms for sale to investors in Bradford at an amazingly low price of £27500. After further searches on Google I found the name of the developer (FreshStart Living) and found other new and refurbished  properties for sale around the UK that were priced below market value. I eventually invested in one of the properties.

I would certainly recommend to anyone looking to invest in properties to take a look at the Fresh Start web site and talk to their sales team.

After studying the FreshStart brochure, researching and studying the financials, it quickly became apparent that Fresh Start had the pedigree to deliver on the development.  Communications, updates and questions were answered fully and the project finished in time for the new academic year.  I have since looked at other investments in Manchester with FreshStart with a view to investing again- I recommend other investors check out FreshStart's  offerings and pursue investments with them.

I recently attended an open day at 'Montgomery House' in Manchester, I was looking for a place to live whilst at University. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and I was offered free refreshments which was very kind. I was then taken on a tour of the building by Steph who was fantastic, she was very knowledgeable about both the building and the rooms and also about Manchester. She was also very friendly and she made the whole day a lot more relaxed. I decided to take a room in 'Montgomery House' due to three factors: Location, Value and the quality of the Halls. The Location is perfect for me as I am studying in Fallowfield which is only a 5 minute cycle ride away from the Halls and also it is only a 10 minute bus ride into the city centre. The Value is fantastic, i was offered 20% off if I payed up front which saved me £15 a week! I was also offered a free IPad as i was one of the first 50 to sign up, this was a rather pleasant surprise! The quality of the actual halls itself and the rooms is fantastic, the rooms are a nice size with a sink and mirror and a nice big bed! Also the TV license has been payed for throughout the halls! The kitchens are also brand new and fully equipped. All in all I am very excited to move in to 'Montgomery House' and i'm sure i will enjoy living there.

I was dealing with Gurjinder who was incredibly professional and seemed very genuine and was always available to answer my questions and allay any fears that I had. He was adaptable enough to meet me in Manchester at 9am on a Sat morning to take me over to Liverpool to view Bispham House and ultimately ensured that I had a deal to suit all parties. I found the sales team at Freshstart helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. When the project I had invested in was not progressed all reservation fees were quickly refunded. I have read some critical comments about the company on the net but I think people investing off plan need to realise what they are investing in and how the process works, It's not the same as popping into an estate agent to buy an existing property. If you pull the plug on the investment you forfeit the reservation fees. If the company pulls the plug you get them refunded. That's the way this works and it is very clearly stated on the reservation form. Buying off plan can be a risk but that's why the rewards are greater. The developer passes on a greater discount for selling the property at the planning stage of the process. If you want to wait until the property is complete you can but you will pay more. Some projects will make it through to development some wont. It's a case of not becoming emotionally attached to the property in question but focussing on the fundamentals of the investment like yield and capital growth. If one project doesn't make it through to development move on to another that meets your investment criteria. Freshstart have a good business model that passes on large savings to well researched and prepared investors and I will have no hesitation in taking my own advice when the next project that meets my set criteria becomes available.

I have bought 3 Apartments in Bispham and I am very impressed with the professionalism of the Management of the estate on two counts.  Firstly Freshstart have employed an experienced Estate Manager and this is key to protecting the value of my investment over the years.  Secondly, Freshstart have produced a Bispham Management Policy Document which sets out the Framework by which all stakeholders (Freeholder, Leaseholders, Tenants, etc) will work together.  It is written in plain English and in addition to setting out each parties responsibilities it give a lot of information to support each stakeholder.  There is also a Residents Handbook, which is a subset of the Management Policy document and I give this to each of my Tenants to help them live in harmony in Bispham.
A well managed estate is essential to protect my investment and that is what Freshstart are providing.
