I first became aware of FSL after they contacted about me a few months ago, about the possibility of purchasing a new build apartment from a development in Stockport/ Manchester. I had previously registered my details with a number of Developers, including FSL in 2007, when I had first considered investing in property but had not taken any further steps toward this.

 

The telephone call from FSL came at the right time; I had a few savings and had been seriously thinking of buying but just had not had any time to do so, as I have a very hectic schedule.

 

My budget was very limited but I was able to negotiate a suitable price and various other reductions with the FSL agents, Sarah Whittaker and Steve Massam. Despite both of them working under pressure, I found them to be very accommodating and flexible.

 

My purchase is yet to be completed but the  best way to describe my experience so far, is that, whilst I appreciate that my agents are in business;  I feel I have a genuine team of “ cheerleaders” who are wholly supportive  and fully  committed to seeing my purchase go through, just as I am. It’s a totally ‘win- win’ affair and I am very much looking forward to a continuing business relationship with FSL!! Thank you so much.

Having quite a varied portfolio I thought it good to invest in key worker homes. I looked and several key worker homes and I thought FreshStart had the best deal. I am very happy with my investment and would definitely recommend FreshStart as they made the process very easy, particularly considering I live in China

I had a look through and thought this was the best one for me. The price attracted me more than anything and it’s not too far either. I’ve walked it loads of times and it’s only like half an hour walk. I recommended it to my friend James and he rang up and said we were friends and FreshStart put us rooms right next to each other.

I applied for University accommodation but then they didn’t have enough room.

I didn’t know what to do, I thought I was going to have to get a house or something because I didn’t know there was private halls. But then they sent me an e-mail through telling me about the private halls and I went on that and I found Montgomery house and it’s nice and I’m happy with it. It also means that I have an extra 30 pound a week to spend on going out.

I got an offer from the University hall I applied for when I was away  travelling but I couldn’t afford it then because the deposit was too much. So I was phoning around and someone who used to come here was looking around for me and they told me about here. They sent me the link and I applied.

 I think it’s nice, the kitchens are big and the bedrooms are fairly big, not what I expected, I thought they would be a lot smaller. It’s nice that you can make it all homely.

I went on Manchester Student Homes and Montgomery House was one of accommodations on there and it was the cheapest one so I applied it. I was little bit worried that I wouldn’t get anywhere to stay because I applied quite late.

It’s good here, nice people, nice rooms. I love it. I’d recommend it to people, definitely.

I didn’t get into University halls and the Uni actually sent me a link to Manchester Student Homes.com and I went through the list and found Montgomery House.
I thought: ‘£75, that sounds reasonable’ and it is reasonable for what you get it. And they had good offers and incentives, like the first 50 people to reserve a place get a free iPad. It’s class. The buildings class as well, I love it. I love the people, they make the environment.

I got turned down by University halls then I received an e-mail linking me to a page with about 12 different accommodations and Montgomery House was the one that stood out.

I was quite worried that I wouldn’t find anywhere to live but I came to see Montgomery House and it looked better than Uni halls of residence to be honest. I’d been to see them and this seemed better, more reasonable and better location.

I applied for accommodation through Manchester Met and got rejected and got sent to a website where I found Montgomery House. The building is really good, it’s a really relaxed atmosphere and everyone gets on well.

I would recommend this more than the Uni accommodation because it’s more reasonably priced and I wouldn’t want to live too far in to the centre of the city. Also, it’s a lot better atmosphere, it’s a lot more relaxed.

I’d recommend FreshStart, it’s all really good. The managements good and so is Nathan, the care taker.

I looked on Manchester Student Homes and found Montgomery House. I saw the price and everything, looked at the pictures and all the specs about it and thought ‘Yeah, let’s go for it.’

I would recommend it here, I think it’s a nice place, especially for £75 a week. I think a lot of places would charge a lot more than that but probably wouldn’t provide much more than is here. The atmosphere is very relaxed and sociable, you can just walk around and everyone is like ‘Hello’ and ‘How are you doing?’

We had been having difficulties finding a way to get onto the property ladder. As first time buyers we were told that we had little options.  FreshStart have made it possible for us to buy our first home and on top of that we will be in positive equity which will give us a great start in life. From the moment I spoke on the telephone to Stephanie Sowerby from Fresh Start Living I knew Montgomery house was going to be the Halls for Rebecca. Stephanie answered all my queries in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. She understood my concerns and soon put them to rest.  It became clear Fresh Start Living employ a best practice approach to their clients.  It’s the little things such as emails answered quickly and telephone calls followed up that makes the process a positive experience.

Rebecca and I went along to Fresh Start Living’s open day with some trepidation. We don’t know the areas of Manchester well and were concerned what district the house was in. We need not have worried  Montgomery House is a gem, placed at the end of a leafy avenue surrounded by an oasis of gardens and parks, yet a very short stroll to 2 main bus routes.

Montgomery House is stunning. Inside its light and airy with its stone staircases and tall windows that let the light flood in. The common rooms are large and again surrounded on one side by walls of windows. The floor is the original parquet, all of this just adds to the congenial ambience of the house. The students rooms are well laid out, the queen size bed a pleasant surprise. The new communal kitchens are amble big enough. The shared bathrooms with several showers and toilets mean the queues will be manageable! It was reassuring to learn of the security measures that are in place. There is even a minibus to take them to and from student nights out. Whilst there we met Nathan - the youngest caretaker I have ever met!  I am sure the students will feel more at ease with someone nearer to their own age.

The price for the rooms seemed fair and the incentives a bonus, we had no hesitation in signing up with Fresh Start Living. Rebecca can’t wait to move in and begin her days as a student. As a parent it’s reassuring to know she is staying in a Halls that are run by a friendly professional staff who care about their clients.

The Salesman Wayne was polite and courteous even after I kept ringing him on the phone and emailing him on a regular basis, trying to get the best deal in terms of number of properties for the best price. At no point was I encouraged to purchase anything I didn’t want to. This gave me confidence in the company and I decided to make my first property investment with Fresh Start.

For almost 5 years, I have been glued to the Rightmove website looking for affordable properties to invest in to supplement the small pension I will receive when I retire in a few years time. Then recently I spotted something about refurbished student halls building, with rooms for sale to investors in Bradford at an amazingly low price of £27500. After further searches on Google I found the name of the developer (FreshStart Living) and found other new and refurbished  properties for sale around the UK that were priced below market value. I eventually invested in one of the properties.

I would certainly recommend to anyone looking to invest in properties to take a look at the Fresh Start web site and talk to their sales team.

After studying the FreshStart brochure, researching and studying the financials, it quickly became apparent that Fresh Start had the pedigree to deliver on the development.  Communications, updates and questions were answered fully and the project finished in time for the new academic year.  I have since looked at other investments in Manchester with FreshStart with a view to investing again- I recommend other investors check out FreshStart's  offerings and pursue investments with them.

I recently attended an open day at 'Montgomery House' in Manchester, I was looking for a place to live whilst at University. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and I was offered free refreshments which was very kind. I was then taken on a tour of the building by Steph who was fantastic, she was very knowledgeable about both the building and the rooms and also about Manchester. She was also very friendly and she made the whole day a lot more relaxed. I decided to take a room in 'Montgomery House' due to three factors: Location, Value and the quality of the Halls. The Location is perfect for me as I am studying in Fallowfield which is only a 5 minute cycle ride away from the Halls and also it is only a 10 minute bus ride into the city centre. The Value is fantastic, i was offered 20% off if I payed up front which saved me £15 a week! I was also offered a free IPad as i was one of the first 50 to sign up, this was a rather pleasant surprise! The quality of the actual halls itself and the rooms is fantastic, the rooms are a nice size with a sink and mirror and a nice big bed! Also the TV license has been payed for throughout the halls! The kitchens are also brand new and fully equipped. All in all I am very excited to move in to 'Montgomery House' and i'm sure i will enjoy living there.

Excellent service linked with good value properties. Initially, when new to the company I had a few teething problems but they were resolved very quickly and with speed. Very impressed with the sales persons and with the company in general.

Gujinder is a good salesman and a very good ambassador for the company. Gujinder did not promise anything he could not deliver, and always strives to get added value for his clients. Gujinder has a great knowledge of the product and his manner is professional at all times. Gujinder knew that I was extremely busy at work so agreed to call me out of office, this he did, at the prescribed time and with all the relevant information available, this allowed me to make my investment decisions without distraction and in possession of all the facts, Gujinder is very genuine and helpful, and I would trust him to get the best deal for all parties. FreshStart were professional with all their correspondence and were provided me with what seems like a good investment in an unsure market. I’ll see how it goes and will provide an update in the future.

I found the sales team at Freshstart helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. When the project I had invested in was not progressed all reservation fees were quickly refunded. I have read some critical comments about the company on the net but I think people investing off plan need to realise what they are investing in and how the process works, It's not the same as popping into an estate agent to buy an existing property. If you pull the plug on the investment you forfeit the reservation fees. If the company pulls the plug you get them refunded. That's the way this works and it is very clearly stated on the reservation form. Buying off plan can be a risk but that's why the rewards are greater. The developer passes on a greater discount for selling the property at the planning stage of the process. If you want to wait until the property is complete you can but you will pay more. Some projects will make it through to development some wont. It's a case of not becoming emotionally attached to the property in question but focussing on the fundamentals of the investment like yield and capital growth. If one project doesn't make it through to development move on to another that meets your investment criteria. Freshstart have a good business model that passes on large savings to well researched and prepared investors and I will have no hesitation in taking my own advice when the next project that meets my set criteria becomes available.

I’m from the Liverpool area and was interested in this apartment as my own first home. Kash was helpful in suggesting properties but unfortunately the opportunity fell through. Freshstart were diligent in everything they did and promptly provided a refund when things didn’t go to plan. I will look to do business with you guys should anything else come up in Liverpool or Birkenhead.

I have bought 3 Apartments in Bispham and I am very impressed with the professionalism of the Management of the estate on two counts.  Firstly Freshstart have employed an experienced Estate Manager and this is key to protecting the value of my investment over the years.  Secondly, Freshstart have produced a Bispham Management Policy Document which sets out the Framework by which all stakeholders (Freeholder, Leaseholders, Tenants, etc) will work together.  It is written in plain English and in addition to setting out each parties responsibilities it give a lot of information to support each stakeholder.  There is also a Residents Handbook, which is a subset of the Management Policy document and I give this to each of my Tenants to help them live in harmony in Bispham.
A well managed estate is essential to protect my investment and that is what Freshstart are providing.

Did not promise anything he could not deliver, and had a great knowledge of the product.  His manner was professional at all times, and even phoned me out of office when he said he would.  Came across as being very genuine and helpful, and that would strive for the best deal between all parties; a real valuable commodity. I would have no hesitation in dealing with him, or the company, again

When I first contacted Fresh Start, they were very helpful on the phone and suggested I spend a day in Manchester getting to know the sites they have acquired and their team.  Martin picked me up from Manchester station and drove me to developments I was interested in.  As I didn’t know the local area, this was especially useful.  We then headed back to their office to talk through the deal specifics.  During the visit I was able to satisfy myself that the specific property investment looked sound and that as a company they seemed to be in this for the long term.

When I saw an advertisement for student accommodation I decided to go directly to the developer as they could offer me a better deal than going through a broker. I spoke to Matt at FreshStart who was upfront and honest about what was of offer and the returns I could make. Speaking to someone like this gave me the confidence to invest with them. Since my initial purchase I have gone on to buy two more student properties though FreshStart.

Dan and FreshStart Living were very easy to work with. The process was clearly explained and Dan was always available when I had any questions. It's hard to get developers to communicate with you clearly, but I found FreshStart Living really helpful. The whole buying process was made straightforward and simple. I will definitely be buying more properties from FreshStart Living.

I was first drawn to investing with FreshStart by the prices of the properties they were offering. I have bought several properties in Manchester and Liverpool from FreshStart so far. I was dealing with Paul who guided me through all the different investment options that were available to me and where the properties were. The help he provided  was excellent. I was looking for investment opportunities and saw FreshStart's advert in the paper. I requested that they contact me and Paul returned my call. Paul invited me to the office where he ran through all their various sites and the benefits of the different locations. I was interested in investing in Manchester and bought a 2 bed apartment at Trafford Press.

Whilst at the office finalising the reservation two houses on their Vauxhall Street site became available - as I was already there I was able to get first refusal on these and purchased both of them. I would recommend that anyone considering investing in property arrange to go to the FreshStart offices and meet their staff in person.

With savings rates so low and taxes increasing, I saw this as an opportunity to generate a monthly income and achieve a Capital Gain in the medium / long term. It also meant I could diversify my financial portfolio into an investment property and be hands off by appointing an experienced and reputable Letting Agent.
